Baton Rouge General places a high value on interpersonal communication and relationships. The Family Medicine Residency Program thrives on participation from everyone involved and seeks input from residents, faculty, staff and the community. Members of this program continually find themselves involved in the decision-making process.

The Family Medicine Residency Program is the only residency program sponsored by, funded by, and based at Baton Rouge General. Often our residents work one-on-one with community-based faculty/physicians in their offices and on hospital rounds.

Baton Rouge General’s Graduate Medical Education office employs a full-time administrative and support staff under the directorship of our Chief Medical Officer, Floyd Roberts, MD. More than 75 Baton Rouge area physicians serve as part-time clinical faculty for GME rotations at the General in addition to the core faculty of the Family Medicine Residency Program.
